Students going to third level college this year might have some extra cash in their pokets.

The maintenance grant -SUSI has increased from last year to help ease the cost of living for those studying away from home.

College goers need to create an account on susi.ie and start the application for their return to studies in the Autumn.

But if you do not qualify for a grant, the Money Doctors John Lowe says other financial supports are available.

"You may be able to get the student grant to help with living expenses while you're in education. You'll get some fees help as well states the website."

He continued, " There's also student finance, this is a website and user friendly source with information for financial support for further and higher education. The SUSI grant is one thing but the studentfinance.ie is another whereby you may be able to get some loans that you may be able to pay later on."
