The winter eviction ban is due to expire at midnight.
Protests are planned for over the weekend with evictions legally allowed to resume from tomorrow.
Despite the efforts of the opposition bringing it to three votes in the Dáil on various motions and legislation the laws empowering the ban will lapse at midnight
That means technically the first no fault evictions since October can start tomorrow.
Some tenants will have protection up to the 18th of June depending on when the notice to quit was issued.
The Taoiseach Leo Varadkar has said there are options for people struggling to find a new home and to engage with Government agencies.
But many people are finding it very very difficult to source new accommodation and despite exhausting options in the parliament the opposition will continue to push for a reinstatement of the ban.
