ESB Group's operating profit increased by 168 million euro last year.
It totalled 847 million euro, according to its end-of-year financial statements.
That's up from 679 million euro in 2021.
The company says profits from its generation businesses in both Ireland and Britain were the primary drivers of the increased profitability.
Chief executive Paddy Hayes says it has increased the dividend paid to the state:
'The government is the majority shareholder and that three-hundred and twenty-seven million is two hundred million more than last year'.
'It goes back to Irish tax payers, and of course we've also maintained our investment programme, investing a record 1.4 billion'.
