Foreign Affairs Minister Micheál Martin says "every effort is being made to assist" Irish citizens
Efforts are underway to evacuate over 140 Irish citizens from Sudan.
The Department of Foreign Affairs says it's "planning for assisted evacution with our international partners".
Over 400 people have died in violent clashes between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces paramilitary group.
The US has closed its embassy, and France is currently evacuating its diplomats and citizens.
But Sudanese-American journalist Isma'il Kushkush is stuck in the capital, Khartoum.
He says, "we've been trying to arrange an evacuation but the situation just isn't safe, we're surrounded by troops."
Isma'il added, "There was a point we thought we wouldn't have enough water, but we're ok now. We have enough water for a week."
