Dry January could bring about a lasting change in drinking habits, benefiting Ireland's low and no-alcohol drinks industry, which is one of the fastest-growing alcohol-free markets globally.
Non-alcoholic beer sales in Ireland have tripled since 2017, with a 25 percent increase in 2022 alone.
When it comes to who is planning to moderate their drinking most, adults aged 18-24 said they'd take part in Dry January according to a survey from the non-alcohol beer brand Lucky Star.
The company's head of communications, Kevin Lyster, says its a very positive move, highlighting the "great alcohol free options out there, be it beers, wines, cocktails" which Kevin says are helping to shift attitudes. Kevin added that "having those great options are really important to help people feel included in a social setting."
