An eight year old girl who died off the Cork coast yesterday was swept from shallow waters "very quickly".
Emergency services launched a search operation after the incident at Fountainstown Beach near Crosshaven yesterday afternoon.
The little girl's body was recovered yesterday evening at dusk.
Editor of CorkBeo, Joe O'Shea says there were a lot of agencies involved in the operation:
"According to the eye witnesses that we spoke to yesterday, it all happened very very quickly and she was basically taken out incredibly quickly."
"The alarm was raised at about 4.40pm, there was a massive search. It involved Crosshaven, Ballycotton RNLI, it involved the Irish Coast Guard helicopter. The customs boat from Cork harbour even got involved."
"Really like a huge scramble of everybody who could get there."
