Dogs Trust Ireland is warning dog owners to be extra vigilant this Easter with chocolate eggs.
Carelessness by leaving chocolate lying around could cost a dog its life in some cases.
Hot cross buns, grapes, macadamia nuts and daffodils can also be lethal to canines.
99% of dog owners know that chocolate is toxic but 19% of pooches still managed to get their paws on it ?
Avoid hopping along to the vets this Easter by keeping all chocolate out of reach of your four legged friends!

Corinna Fitzsimons from Dogs Trust Ireland, says if there is an accidental ingestion, owners should ring their vet immediately:
"If you come home and you suspect your dog has eaten something, or they are acting quite strange, getting sick, have a runny tummy, are excessively thirsty or excitable and just not being themselves, we recommend that you ring the vet immediately. We also recommend for you to keep the number for the out-of-hours vet on your phone just in case."
