Gardaí in Tullamore are investigating after a man and a 5 year old boy were killed in a collision.
The two car crash happened at Scrubb, Killeigh in Tullamore at about 5pm today.
The male driver in his 30s and a 5 year old boy were killed when the car they were in collided with an articulated truck. A young girl and another male passenger were also in the car at the time of the crash. She's been airlifted to Crumlin Children’s Hospital with life threatening injuries while the make passenger is being treated at the Midland Regional Hospital in Tullamore.
The male driver of the truck was also taken to the Midland Regional Hospital in Tullamore with minor injuries.
The road is currently closed to facilitate a Garda forensic collision examination and local diversions are in place.
