1 in 5 full time workers in Ireland aren't making enough money to cover the vital expenses needed to live and work here.
That's according to the Living Wage Technical Group which says the ideal Living Wage has jumped to 14 euro 80 per hour because of the cost-of-living crisis.
The minimum wage is set to increase to 12 euro 70 in 2024 but this is still over 2 euro less than what is needed to cover basic costs.
Social Justice Ireland's Colette Bennett helped to put the figures together and says the Government must address the gap between the haves and the have not's:
"1 in 5 of those who are working full time don't earn the living wage, and that gap is increasing all the time.
"We are expecting to see the minimum wage increase, and again it is a significant increase by over a euro next year, but its still going to be about a third of the difference that's actually needed."
