Former UEFA President Michel Platini has been arrested as part of an investigation into the awarding of the 2022 World Cup to Qatar.
He was taken into custody this morning, according to French investigative journalism organisation Mediapart.
The 63-year-old was UEFA President between 2007 and 2015, before being banned from all football related activity until 2023.
Qatar were awarded the World Cup in 2010 ahead of bids from Australia, The USA, Japan and South Korea.
