Wait times at Dublin Airport were stable this morning after the Dublin Airport Authority adopted contingency plans to deal with the bank holiday rush.

As of 11 o'clock, wait times at security in Dublin Airport were 40 minutes for Terminal 1 and 25 minutes for Terminal 2.

Queues were longest between 4 and 5 this morning.

During this mad rush, the marquee erected outside T1 couldn't contain all passengers, leaving them standing outside.

At baggage check-in, Air France and Air Canada have particularly long queues.

But funnily enough, the Ryanair kiosks are completely free of traffic.

Yesterday the DAA's contingency plans kept queues as low as 10 minutes long.

But today there were hundreds of passengers waiting in the fast track queue.

Between the 6 am and 7 am peak, a total of 36 flights departed Dublin - 19 from Terminal 1 and 17 from Terminal 2.

Terminal 2 is a different story - with a security member describing it as a "ghost town"

After the early morning rush, the marquees cleared out, with security and baggage check-in resembling a bank holiday weekend pre-pandemic.

50 thousand people are expected to fly out of the capital today.

Dublin Airport Authority Media Relations Manager, Graeme McQueen is content with how things are running.

"It's a busy weekend but things are running smoothly so far."

He claimed the build-up of queues between 4 am and 5 am are pretty normal and after 6:30 am queue times were down to 20 minutes in both terminals.
