Communion season is upon us, and for those that celebrate, it's proving to be costly.
Renting bouncy castles can cost up to 450 euro, while gifts can total even more.
It's Communion season, as kids across the country celebrate the Catholic tradition.
But as parents of kids who have made or are making their First Holy Communions know, it doesn't come cheap.
A recent Ulster Bank survey found some children are pulling in up to 600 euro which has raised the question, how much should you give in a card?
Sinead Ryan, Consumer Columnist with the Irish Independent, gives her view on the matter:
"I kind of like the idea of maybe buying a nice book for the child or a toy or some other thing that you would maybe for a birthday, rather than them landing with all of this money, especially for eight year olds who don't really have a concept of how it works or what to do with it."
So the main takeaway is for parents, go big or go home seems to be old news and for kids, now is a great time to learn about saving.
