Catherine Martin will discuss the undisclosed payments to Ryan Tubridy with the Chair of the RTÉ board
The Chair of the RTE Board, Siun Ni Raghaillaigh, will meet with communications Minister Catherine Martin this afternoon as the fallout from the Ryan Tubridy payments scandal continues.
RTÉ has been formally called before the Oireachtas Public Accounts Committee to answer questions about the salary of Ryan Tubridy.
The broadcaster has suspended Director General Dee Forbes after it emerged Tubridy was paid hundreds of thousands of euro more than RTÉ publicly stated.
Chairman of the PAC Brian Stanley says he wants to hear from Ms Forbes despite the suspension.
Sinn Féin Senator Lynn Boylan says the episode makes it very difficult to trust RTÉ:
"This fundamentally undermines the trust that the public have on that national broadcaster. The fact they would have gone before Oireachtas committees with the begging bowl out saying we need more money and published salaries that knowing full well that they were not exactly what they said on the tin. I think that's really damaging to the public trust."
