A Labrador in the UK has become the first to be labeled 'alcoholic' after an unfortunate incident left him exposed to alcohol.

The Lab named Coco, was one of two dogs that arrived at a shelter in Devon after their owner passed away.

They'd had access to alcohol which was left out after their previous owner sadly died, leaving both of them with withdrawal symptoms when they arrived at the shelter.

Vets are attempting to save his life as he comes off the booze, meanwhile the other dog unfortunately died.

Woodside Animal Welfare Trust, said it was 'a first' for them to see the animals suffering from canine alcohol withdrawal.
Sharing the details on their social media, the trust says:
"We are so thankful that we are now out of danger and Coco is off all medication and is now starting to behave like a normal dog. He is not yet ready for adoption and whilst physically he seems to have recovered, mentally he is still very anxious at times."
