Its Private Sector Committee has published Pay Bargaining Guidance for Unions in the Private Sector today.

Congress General Secretary Owen Reidy says workers need pay hikes of up to 6 per cent.

'We're of the view that it's really important that work must pay in this economy and we know that in the recent period work right across the economy and pay has been falling and has been behind inflation and we think in 2024 in the private sector pay claims of between 4 and 6 per cent should be sought where affordable. '
