A man is recovering after falling asleep in a bin in Killarney and ending up in a refuse truck.
It’s understood the man, along with other contents of the bin, was placed in the lorry.
Workers quickly spotted the man, as they were in the process of unloading the bin at around 7am.
The man is around 40 years of age and reported to be from North Cork. He was taken to University Hospital Kerry but managed to escape serious injury.
It's believed he was socialising in Killarney before falling asleep in the large bin.
Speaking to the Irish Mirror, refuse company KWD said:
"KWD sincerely hopes the member of the public involved, whose privacy we wish to respect, makes a speedy and complete recovery. Otherwise, KWD is not commenting on this incident. Please refer all queries to the appropriate emergency services.”
Gardaí and the Fire Service attended the scence The Health and Safety Authority say it's aware of the incident and is investigating.
