The Government's new rules will impose a nightly ban between half five and nine o'clock.
But Labour Senator Mark Wall wants it to be 24/7 to end the non-stop bombardment of gambling ads:
'Gambling will continue because everybody knows where they can go, but we don't need this incessant gambling ads coming at us 24/7.'
'There's not a sporting occasion now that you're not influenced or attempted to be influenced by a gambling ad.'
It's also claimed gambling companies sponsoring sports events is no different to tobacco products in the past.
Labour TD Aodhan O'Riordain thinks gambling companies providing funding to sport doesn't stop the harm gambling can cause:
'We're not trying to ban gambling in any way, but we are trying to ban the glorification of it.'
'There are too many people now who have gambling addictions and its affecting our young people quite seriously.'
