These thefts bring the total number of ATM thefts to 14 since the start of the year.

Two ATMs have been stolen overnight in Kells, Co. Meath as well as Crumlin, Co. Antrim, in what is now the 13th and 14th such attacks this year.

In Kells, a digger was used to remove a cash machine from the wall of the AIB overnight, soon after an ATM at the Bank of Ireland was stolen at around 4am.

The thieves left behind a digger, tractor and a low loader which blocked Main Street of the town.

Gardaí are appealing for anyone with information into this incident to contact Kells Garda Station on 046 - 9280820, the Garda Confidential Line 1800 666 111 or any Garda station.

While in Crumlin, another double ATM was stolen from the local Tesco supermarket. A digger was set alight and a tractor and trailer was also found burnt out on the main street in Crumlin village.

The two attacks are the latest in a series of ATM robberies around the country both north and south of the border.

Earlier this week a gang used a digger stolen from a nearby farm to dislodge the ATM machine in Bushmills, Co Antrim.
