A Toyota Hilux vehicle reversed at force into the doors of the Centra shop in Main Street, Athboy. Two individuals got out of the Crew Cab and entered the shop, whilst a third remained in the vehicle. One of the raiders was carrying a a small axe.
They took a quantity of cash from the premises before speeding off in the direction of Navan.
The Hilux was later discovered on fire on a laneway in the Hill of Ward area of Athboy. A second vehicle, a Mazda car, was also found on fire at this location.
Anybody who witnessed the incident or who may have captured the incident on dashcam, is asked to contact Athboy Garda Station.
