The helmet man throws the hand egg! Sadly.. that won't cut it. Here's a guide to tonight's Super Bowl.

Whether you're a diehard NFL fan or just very bored on a Sunday night, a mix of people will be tuning into the big sporting event tonight.

The Super Bowl is held annually, and pits the two best NFL teams against each other to crown a champion.

But have you any prior American Football knowledge on your CV? There's no need!

Here's all you need to know ahead of tonight's game:

What is 'American Football' and what are the rules?

'American Football', or simply football, is a very popular sport in the US and now worldwide, but primarily played in the States.

Two teams take each other on with the ultimate goal of getting a 'touchdown'. A touchdown is like getting a try in rugby, only you don't have to ground the ball. Teams will take turns playing their 'offense' and their 'defense' line-ups. Every play depends on how many yards you can make it up the field. That's the main jist.

Who's playing in this year's Super Bowl?

It's the Kansas City Chiefs vs the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

What are the Kansas City Chiefs like?

They won the Super Bowl last year, and are a great all-round team. Led by superstar quarterback Patrick Mahomes, they have an exciting offense and have lots of weapons at their arsenal.

What are the Tampa Bay Buccaneers like?

You might have heard of the eternal man Tom Brady. He's 43-years-old, and still riding high as one of the league's top quarterbacks. He leads the charge of his offense, who are very talented, as well as a smothering defence on their day.

Where is it taking place and will there be crowds?

It's set to happen in Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida. The NFL are allowing 25,000 fans, with a portion of these vaccinated healthcare workers.

Football blah blah. What about the halftime show?

The real spectacle. This year's halftime show act is The Weeknd, who'll be performing some of his hits with a rumoured appearance from Daft Punk..

Can I see the commercials?

A big appeal of the Super Bowl every year are the commercials. If you have a channel based in the US, you sure can, but Sky's coverage usually just features ads for Vauxhall vans, etc..

When and where can I watch it?

Action gets underway on Sky Sports NFL from 10pm tonight, as well as Sky One and BBC from 11pm.

Get the hot dogs at the ready, the chips and dip on the table and enjoy the show!
