The driver, another teenage boy, and three young passengers were taken to Cork University Hospital with non-life threatening injuries
A teenage boy has died following a two-car collision in County Cork.
It happened on the M8 at Ballybeg in Mitchelstown at about 1 o'clock this morning.
A passenger of one of the cars was killed, while the driver of the car, another teenage boy and three young passengers, were taken to Cork University Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
It's understood the car was travelling the wrong way down the motorway at the time of the head-on collision with another car.
A Garda spokesperson says Gardaí interacted with one of the vehicles before the incident - and therefore, it's been referred to GSOC.
The driver of the other car, a woman in her 30s, was also hospitalised with serious injuries.
The scene remains closed for a technical examination, and Gardaí are appealing for witnesses.
