It comes ahead of a high visibility road safety campaign for the October bank holiday weekend.
Minster of State with Special Responsibilities for Road Safety Jack Chambers, is urging road users to take care.
'Bank holidays, there's higher levels of activity. There's more people out and about and on our roads and that's obviously the natural position for people, going down the country for a break or going about within your local community so we know that there's of the an increased number of collisions more fatalities and higher risks for individual. An Garda Siochana are really focused this weekend on the life saver offences.'
