It's reported the ban could last until the end of February or March
A government minister has confirmed a winter ban on evictions is being considered.
The Housing Minister is consulting with the Attorney General on the temporary measure on the back of the cost-of-living crisis, the threat of electricity blackouts and record homeless figures.
It's reported the ban could last until the end of February or March.
Foreign Affairs Minister Simon Coveney says a number of issues will have to be worked out first;
"I know that Darragh O'Brien is looking at that at the moment - it's not as straightforward as you may think, in terms of property rights and in terms of legal challenges.
"Certainly I think the government is open to looking at that but I'd like to wait and see what Darragh O'Brien comes back to the government with in terms of what we can do."
