A three day weekend? Sounds good to us.

And it soon looks like it could be a reality.

According to Tyla, a few businesses in the UK are now trialing a four-day working week, with a three-day weekend.

It's part of a six-month pilot by researchers at top universities such as Cambridge and Oxford University, and is part of The 4 Day Week UK campaign.

But the even better news? We could be on track to have a four day working week here in Ireland as well.

There's been a similar campaign over here with Project 475100-The 4 day Week.

The meaning of "475100" is simple- four out of seven days working, five days pay, 100 per cent customer satisfaction.

The project started in 2019 in ICE Group, a training, recruitment and outsourcing company based in Galway.

The company reported a 27% increase in employee productivity.

The research is also out there to show that the four day week does work.

Other countries such as Scotland, Spain and New Zealand have trialed it in the past, with Spain being the first country to do so.

In New Zealand, Perpetual Guardian, a estate planning firm trialed the four day working week-employee's stress levels from 45% to 38%.

Commitment to the employer, a sense of engagement with work, and confidence in leadership roles also rose.

Would you sign up for a four day week?
