Based on a true story, “The Tinder Swindler” is Netflix’s latest true-crime documentary.
It’ll follow the story of Shimon Hayut, a 28-year-old Israeli conman who used the dating app Tinder to trick women out of hundreds of thousands of dollars.
The documentary is directed by Felicity Morris, who also directed Don’t F*** With Cats and Three Identical Strangers.
Hayut used the name Simon Leviev on Tinder. He would pose as a billionaire playboy on the app and impress women he matched with to extravagant dinners and private jets before tricking them into giving him thousands.
One of his victims was Cecilie Fjellhoy, a 29-year-old Norwegian masters student living in London. After showering her with grand romantic gestures, Cecilie claims Hayut conned her out of $200,000 (about €170,0004)
In an interview with ABC News, she said: “I hate him, he’s so horrible.”
She continued:
“I am just tired of crying about this, you know? It’s just so painful. I just hate myself that I did this.”
The Tinder Swindler is set to be available on Netflix in February 2022.
