A man in his thirties has died following an accident at a bonfire in Northern Ireland last night.

It’s believed he was helping to build a bonfire in the Larne area when the tragic accident occurred around 10:15 pm.

Police are appealing for any witnesses to the incident to come forward and assist in the investigation.

The bonfire was erected as part of 12th of July events.

One bonfire was being prepared in Larne which is 200 feet high.

Bonfire night was scheduled to take place tonight (Sunday, 11th July).

Parades are also taking place over the weekend across the North in places like Saintfield, Ballygalget, Portadown, Clogher, Lurgan and Belfast.

One parade took place in the Republic yesterday in Rossnowlagh, Co. Donegal – where thousands were expected to attend.
