There are calls for stricter enforcement of e-scooter users.

It’s after footage emerged of someone on an electric scooter on the M50 in Dublin.

This footage, which has been shared on social media, shows the rider has a high vis vest on but no helmet.

They veer across lanes on the M50 – into the hard shoulder – and then take the exit for Ballymun.

Vehicles that can’t maintain a speed of at least 50km an hour aren’t allowed on the m50 and e-scooters are only meant to go at max – 25 kilometres.

The incident has prompted calls for greater enforcement against the improper use of e-scooters.

There were 746 traffic incidents involving e-scooters in the country last year – including 554 collisions.
