The sneaky flight booking hack that can save you heaps

As the weather starts to gradually improve around Europe, a lot of people are starting to consider booking a weekend getaway.

And when it comes to booking flights there's nothing more satisfying than getting them on the cheap.

There are a lot of things can can impact the cost of flights, from booking with a full-service airline versus a budget carrier. Or if you're travelling in peak season versus off-season months.

But sometimes, it can all come down to something as simple as the specific day of the week you make your booking, according to Expedia Group.

New data from the travel company reveals you can save up to 45 per cent on airfares simply by shifting the day you book and the day you depart.

Expedia Group came up with the data by analysing airline routes and ticket prices in a joint research project with the Airline Reporting Corporation.

So which day should you book your fare?

Expedia found the best day to book your fare — as in, the day you should take the plunge and buy those tickets — is a Sunday. That’s when you’ll see the lowest prices.

While the worst day is a Friday, with airfares offered that day typically higher.

You’ll probably cop higher fares if your first day of travel is a Sunday.

It may not be the case every time, but according to Expedia’s analysis, statistically, this is the best chance you have at saving!
