Telephone medicine is on the rise!
More people are using 'telemedicine' instead of attending appointments when it comes to their healthcare.
The term is used to describe when patients speak to a doctor online or over the phone.
New research commissioned by the Medical Council has found 24% have used the remote service in the past 12 months.
The survey of over 1,000 adults has revealed it is most popular among people aged between 35 and 49.
The research also found fewer people are visiting the GP, with one in four admitting to not visiting their doctor's surgery in the past year.
The Irish Times reports that doctors are the second most trusted professionals in Ireland, after teachers.
As 89% of people trust that their doctor will tell the truth.
