New research has found teenagers with acne are top of their class in school.
While the condition is associated with embarrassment and low confidence, teens with blemishes are more successful.
American researchers from Ball State University and Emory College of Arts and Sciences studied national health surveys of teenagers in 1994-1995, 1996, 2001-2002 and 2007-2008.
They discovered that those with acne earned higher grades in high school and were more likely to complete a college degree.
The study also found evidence that acne is associated with higher earnings for women.
The researchers noted that some young people could be comforted if they knew the association between having acne and getting better jobs.
Acne affects approximately 645 million people worldwide and 60 to 68 per cent of people aged 15 to 19 years.
