Secondary school students admit that over-use of smart phones is ruining their ability to focus and study - 83 per cent worry they use their phones too much, while 38 per cent use smartphones for 4 or more hours a day,
The Studyclix Student Survey 2023 also found that 16 per cent of students use their phones for more than 6 hours a day with one in five students having used Chat GPT for schoolwork
Co founder of Studyclix Luke Saunders said watching short videos is having a significant impact on their ability to study:
"More than half have said that short-form video has damaged their ability to concentrate."
"And when we look at the type of apps that they're on, the first one is Instagram, then Snapchat, and then TikTok."
"A lot of them are led by short-form video and as we all know, they can be extremely distracting."
