Primary school pupils across the country are beginning their summer holidays today, but for everyone else, it's a regular weekend.
Working professionals are heading towards another full month with no public holidays, and many aren't happy about it.
There have been calls for more holidays in recent months.
Catherine Flanagan, CEO of the Association of Visitor Experiences and Attractions, says there are huge benefits to a long weekend:
"It really unlocks people's free time, so compared to a typical weekend there's no doubt that bank holidays are drivers of footfall.
"People spend that little bit more money in the shops and in the food and beverage outlets. We definitely see an economic benefit out of that."
"It also creates a few extra working hours for the staff members, maybe the weekend staff, the students, the seasonal workers."
