We knew it!

Science has now confirmed that prosecco hangovers are the worst.

Research shows that the carbon dioxide in prosecco may give you a bit more of a banging headache than some other tipples. Marco Castelanelli, sommelier and ex wine merchant told Tyla that the bubbles are to blame:

"Prosecco and Champagne both contain little pockets of carbon dioxide which change how the alcohol flows through the blood stream, helping the body to adsorb the alcohol faster.

"Once in the bloodstream the Co2 competes with oxygen which is why you might feel a little woozy and rather drunk rather quickly leading to an exaggerated hangover in the form of a pounding head."

It's not all bad news though.

Marco also comes armed with a few solutions on how to avoid that dreaded hangover.

He says people should avoid drinking our Prosecco on an empty stomach and he advises to sip it slowly rather than drink it quickly.

He also added that you should "drink a glass of water with every glass of Prosecco to reduce dehydration."
