People living near good public transport could soon only be allowed only one parking space per household or none at all.
The Department of Housing is considering the measure in an attempt to boost housing supply.
It's being considered for new developments in Dublin, Cork, Limerick, Galway and Waterford.
But Professor in Transportation at Trinity College, Brian Caulfield, says it all depends on your definition of good public transport:
"The key thing that's in the article in The Times is, this is for new developments, it's not for existing developments."
"But, everybody is right, we need to have the public transport put in place first of all, and that definition of 'accessibility', what is it?"
"How many busses per hour is acceptable in different parts of the country and that's something that we need a definition on."
