80 percent of us are planning an overseas holiday this year, with Spain, the UK and Italy our favourite destinations.
However a survey from PayPal shows 79 per cent are making cutbacks to afford it, with many giving up their daily trip to the coffee shop and swapping takeaways for eating at home.
Most will spend an average of €2,320 euro on their summer break.
However PayPal's Jenna Thompson Nurse says 'staycations' are still popular too:
"People are planning to stay closer to home, with the top destinations in Ireland being Galway, Cork, Donegal and Dublin."
"I think in terms of types of trips, it's not surprising that trips involving quality time with loved ones are really high on the agenda for many."
