A survey was conducted by the IFA and TU Dublin
55 per cent of farmers have been the victims of theft.
It's among the findings contained in new research carried out by TU Dublin and the IFA.
60 per cent of the respondents told the survey Gardai should have a dedicated unit to deal with farm thefts and rural crime.
Aidan Quigley, from Tírlán Farmlife in Clonmel, county Tipperary, says it's often discussed among farmers.
Aidan says, "People say that there is more crime around the area and it's a bit of everything really, things like quads that are easily moved, power washers and things like that, up to tractors."
