Calling all farmers!
The Heath and Safety Authority has launched a farmer health and wellbeing campaign.
Agriland reports that the week long campaign gets underway today and will identify the risks associated with farming.
According to the HSA, farmers are at high risk of heart disease, stroke, obesity and back pain.
The HSA also says poor wellbeing can increase the risk of having a serious injury or death on a farm.
Farmers can also suffer from stress, mental health problems, lung issues, hearing loss and skin cancers.
The Health and Safety Authority is encouraging them to think about their health and wellbeing.
The new inspection campaign will also give guidance on the health issues that they may face in relation to their work.
Pat Griffin, senior agriculture inspector, HSA, said “It’s critically important for farmers to recognise any health problems early and get treatment."
