Should all work come to a stop when the weather gets too hot?
Getting sent home from work to enjoy the sunshine? Yes please!
In Ireland the sun doesn't come around too often so should employers have a think about letting their employees work from home to enjoy the sunshine?
That's what one Labour Party Senator is arguing.
Marie Sherlock who is also a spokesperson for Employment affairs called for a maximum temperature limit for work in Ireland to be implemented.
Sherlock wants the law to come into immediate effect with the current heatwave and the chances of increased summer temperature still to come.
The Labour Party Senator understands that it's very hard for people to work in these conditions and thinks something should be done about it.
Sherlock said: "Temperatures hitting in excess of 30 degrees may feel like a one off novelty for Ireland, however the reality is that for certain workers, these temperatures are very difficult to work in for office-based workers"
She also believes that climate change means there's more chance of prolonged spells of sunshine and extreme heat.
The calls come as many workplaces in Ireland don't have the infrastructure to cope with these heatwaves.
But for now, Sherlock is urging Irish employers to reinforce a work-from-home option if possible, if temperatures reach "uncomfortable and physically stressful levels" in the days and weeks to come.
