The study comes from the UK.

The age old debate of which sex is the better drivers has long been a tongue-in-cheek topic of conversation.

But if this new research from National Travel Survey and Office for National Statistics Data in the UK is anything to go by, the debate has been settled – and women have emerged victorious.

The study pulled together results and found that women are statistically safer behind the wheel than men.

Five categories were examined by the researchers which were – cars, taxis, buses, vans, lorries, bicycles and motorbikes.

And the results found that men pose a significantly higher risk to other road users.

University of Westminster's researcher Dr Rachel Aldred said that these findings show that by having "greater gender equality" in transport jobs, we could see a positive impact on the number of injuries.
