Sisters are doing it for themselves.

It seems it's time to forget everything you ever learned from watching Bridget Jones' Diary, because according to research women are actually happier being single than men are.

A new survey from retail analysts Mintel has found that two thirds of single women are more than happy being without an other half.

However this was certainly not the case for men.

Just under half of men surveyed said they were happy being alone, according to The Irish Sun.

And it seems that for those looking for love, the pool may be a little shallow at the moment.

Their study also found that that 70% of singles are searching for their other half at the moment, and haven't been focusing on their love lives at all in the last year, according to The Daily Mail.

Things such as careers friends and family seem to come before love for those in the survey.
