We knew it!!

You run upstairs for something but by the time you get there, you've forgotten why you're even there.

What's your next step?

Maybe you go back down and hope it pops back into your head?

Well, we've got some news for you.

If you talk to yourself, in this scenario, you may be more likely to remember what you went upstairs for.

"My charger!!"

But also, before you even go upstairs, simply uttering the word "charger" aloud can reduce the chance of you forgetting it in the first place.

Multiple studies have been done on talking to yourself, and most them point towards it being a good thing, and totally normal.

New York clinical psycologist, Dr. Jessica Nicolosi, says that “Talking to ourselves is completely within the norm."

Talking to ourselves makes us slow down our minds, which then means we're not bombarded with thoughts.

A study in the Quarterly Journal of Experimental Psychology tested out the benefits of talking to yourself, and confirmed it is totally normal!

They asked 20 participants to find certain objects in a supermarket.

In one trial, no one was allowed to talk as they searched for the items, while in the second trial, the participants were allowed to repeat the names aloud of the objects aloud as they searched for them.

And low and behold, the second group found it much easier to find the items!

But it's all about how you chat to yourself.

You've got to be as neutral or positive as possible, no negative nellies allowed inside our minds!
