Get those steps in!

We all know that with exercise, the more the merrier.

It's not a myth that keeping active is good for your health but what should we be aiming for exactly?

A new study says that walking 7,000 steps a day can have huge health benefits.

So, we guess it's time we downloaded some kind of step-counting app...

The study was carried out with 2,110 adults between the ages 38 to 50.

They wore a device called an accelerometer for about a week to track their steps.

It found that people seemed to gain more health benefits the more steps they took.

And that the greatest statistically significant reduction in mortality risk occurred with people who took between 7,000 and 10,000 steps.

The exact stats are as follows, according to NBC News:

"Middle-aged people who walked at least 7,000 steps a day on average were approximately 50 percent to 70 percent less likely to die of any cause over the next decade when compared with those who took fewer steps."

If 7,000 or 10,000 sounds like a lot, there is some good news.

There's also some benefit to getting in 4,000-5,000 steps, but the benefits do increase the more you do - naturally!

Well, you know what to do - Get walking!
