Strong arguments on both sides.
A TikTok video on whether its quicker to do self check-out or go to a cashier has divided people online.
And in fairness the arguments made from both sides are quite compelling.
In the video, user @maxklymenko suggests that self check-out is slower, but we don't always perceive it that way.
He says its all psychological - basically that it's all in our heads.
Explaining why we feel self check-out is quicker, Max says that its because we are more active.
Whereas when we go to a cashier, we are waiting so it feels as if it takes longer.
He says the term for it is "Warp Waiting".
And the science behind it does make sense, he claims that when you're actively involved in the transaction, it feels faster.
It's the same concept behind driving - when you're a passenger, the journey often feels longer than if you were driving yourself.
Comments though are fairly divided, despite Max saying it is slower to do self check-out, a lot of people still prefer it.
And it's a very anti-social sentiment with many people saying they use it so they don't have to talk to anyone!
But other people are sceptical still saying self check-out is quicker as people often have less items using them.
