It's that time of the year again - the dreaded resolution season.

The start of a New Year has always been a time to try and turn over a new leaf.

There's a good few that we hear over and over again - going to the gym, healthy eating, or taking driving lessons.

But are they among the most popular ones?

We've got some of them listed here.

Get more exercise

Of course, this is a bit of a obvious one.

We've all said to ourselves we'll get more fit in the New Year at one stage or another.

Compare Camp reports that new gym membership often starts on January 2nd, with 4% increase in attendance by the second week of January.

But it also found half of all gym goers quit after six months of membership.

The HSE guidelines say we should be getting 30 minutes of exercise each day, so maybe it's a good place to start.

Getting our lives in order is another popular resolution we make.

Most of the time, this involves improving our spending habits in the form of saving more money.

There's many ways of doing this through money tracker apps or simply keeping an eye on household bills.

Stopping procrastination is also a popular resolution, with the 2-minute rule becoming a popular concept to manage time.

Learn a new skill

Leveling up our skillsets is a another resolution that most people try to stick to each year.

This varies from how on earth to work Excel spreadsheets to learning a new language.

For language learning, it can help you become a smarter person and improve concentration levels, even as an adult.

Spending more time with family

Some of you may be able to relate quite a lot to this one.

According to OCED, some 5% of employees in Ireland work very long hours with the majority being men.

This makes it difficult to find a good work-life balance and spend time with the family.

So for some of us in 2022, we'll be making an extra effort for some family nights in.

Reading more books

We've heard it over and over - there's multiple benefits to reading a good book.

Improving memory, empathy and communication skills are only a handful of skills we pick up from reading according to Oberlo.

For the book lovers among us, setting a book related resolution is no problem such as reading a set number of books a year.

Which one of these will you be trying to take up this New Year?
