Ahhh trig, algebra and formulas...

School... some love it, some hate it.

But even if you enjoy/enjoyed it, you probably have that one subject you just hate.

For many people, that subject may have been maths.

And apparently, that hatred of the subject has grown even more in recent years.

Well, that's what a recent study suggests anyway.

The US study has shown that children's fear of maths is accelerating.

Around 82% of students between Grades 7 and 10 (the equivalent of 1st year to Transition Year in secondary school) struggle with apprehension around math learning.

And apparently, that fear grows as students get older.

Which makes sense as every subject gets that little bit harder as you go on.

In Grade 7 (1st year) one in four students had negative perceptions about math concepts and need additional intervention.

While this number then increases to one in three in Grade 10 (TY).

It also found that in the same 11-13 years old age group, just two in ten students were confident about their math ability.

The survey was carried out by Cuemath, a Google-backed one-on-one online personalized math and coding tutoring service accredited by STEM.org.

It involved over 900 students between the ages of 11-13 years approx.
