Did you go to Halo or Electric?

It is a sad day for Galway and Ireland as two of the country’s most famous nightclubs have closed their doors for the final time.

The following statement was made for both Electric (formally CPs) and Halo:

“With heavy hearts, we bow out, wishing immense thanks to everyone who passed through our door over the last three decades.”

Electric was one of Galway’s busiest late night venues, with two dancefloors, seven bars and accommodating over 1000 people.

Halo, its sister club, was an award-winning nightclub for over 23s.

Halo offered a premium nightclub experience with VIP packages and table service.

It had two dancefloors, five bars, a cocktail bar and  two smoking terraces.

In a statement posted on social media, the Halo and Electric team stated:

“We have sustained over six hundred days of complete closure, lost revenue, unpaid bills, and reopening dates that never materialised”.

Many past customers of both nightclubs took to social media after the announcement to share their good memories of past nights out in the famous nightclubs.

One person said: “Really sad to hear this. It was always one of my favourite clubs to DJ. I was always looked after really well, very professional crew working there and always had great crowds. It will be sorely missed on the late-night music scene”.

Megan O’Brien also wrote, “Came up from Wexford, and met my now Galway husband on the Halo dancefloor. Good times."

The team at Halo and Electric signed off the post by simply writing “One more tune…”.
