Yesterday, Dublin Zoo staff and Gardaí were alerted to help return a monkey to its enclosure.
Shortly after 5:30pm, Gardaí were called to locate the Sulawesi-crested macaque which had escaped from its enclosure at the zoo.
The monkey was confirmed to have returned back to its home a short time later in the evening.
The zoo also confirmed that the animal had never left the grounds of the zoo.
Dublin Zoo’s 28 hectares usually attracts over 1 million visitors a year and is officially Ireland’s biggest family attraction.
Though, like many things, the zoo remains closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
