Is there truth to this?

The deadline has probably passed at this stage.

We're talking about that 'cuffing' thing...

Explainer:

Cuffing season is known as the time of year in the run up to winter where people try to get themselves a significant other.

It's a term based on the idea of getting "handcuffed" or tied down to one partner.

According to mindbodygreen.com, it's the cold weather that encourages people to look for a partner to spend time with until the warmer seasons return.

Now that you know all about cuffing, let's talk about whether there's method to the madness.

Well, a recent survey reckons yes there is.

It found that 49% of people would be more excited for Christmas if they were in a relationship.

That's almost half of the 1,500 surveyed who reckon it's better to be loved up at Christmas.

While for those singletons out there, four in 10 believe that this time of year tends to draw attention to their relationship status.

27 per cent say they often get quizzed on their relationship status by those around them at Christmas.

While another 20 per cent tend to get asked when they’re planning to settle down, and 17 per cent said they face questions about their dating life from friends and family.

However, the research found 52 per cent of singles believe seasonal singledom should be "celebrated and embraced".

That's according to swns digital who report on the study commissioned by dating app Plenty of Fish.

But what makes having a partner at Christmas so great?

Well, getting to have cosy and festive nights-in together and sharing the excitement both topped the poll.

While 36 percent said that it's great waking up next to someone on Christmas day.
