Mixed views online on whether or not you should tip your barber

The debate about tipping varies across several industries.

From waiters/waitresses, to taxi drivers and to barbers or hairdressers.

But is there a universal rule behind who to tip, when to tip and if you tip, by how much?

Maybe not, but one Reddit user is trying to get to the bottom of it - by asking the people of the internet if they tip their barber.

He seemed pretty confused by an encounter he had with a friend:

"Just got my hair tidied up in the barber earlier on the day and I bumped into a lad I know and his head was shaved completely bald.

Was telling me the barber made a complete fuck of his hair so he went home and just went full bald and then he just casually threw in 'ah I still tipped him but I won’t be going back'

What? Are people tipping barbers?! Am I supposed to tip the barber?! Can’t just throw that into a conversation like it’s a normal thing if it’s not"!

Plenty of people aired their views, with most agreeing that tipping was mostly dead.

The majority of replies revolved around the fact that price of getting a cut has rise recently.

And that, in turn, has made people less likely to fork out anything extra for the cut unless it was "exceptional".

But some people did say they didn't mind throwing a euro or two extra in, especially around Christmas time.
