The things tech can do...
If there's one thing us Irish can pull off it's sarcasm.
We say things like "Great weather we're having", when it's lashing rain outside.
Or we tell someone we love their new haircut, even if we didn't notice anything new.
Well, now Alexa may be embracing that element of our personalities.
Amazon's Alexas could soon have the power to detect sarcasm.
Researchers at the University of Sheffield have been given €260,000 to improve the technology.
It's so they can learn more about human's tone of voice and respond accordingly.
The project hopes to make it possible for Alexas to better understand children.
And they're also hoping Alexs will be able to provide comfort and encouragement to its owners.
